Our Plant Catalog
The Planter's Palette currently grows more than 2,500 varieties of plants, many of which are listed in our on-line catalog.  We strive to keep it as accurate as possible, however, inventory and prices are subject to change.  Some varieties sell out; and new plants are consistently being added.  If you are looking for a plant not listed in our catalog, please give us a call.  If you are coming for a specific plant, please call ahead to avoid disappointment.

We are not a mail order company and do not ship plants.  If you live in the area, plants can be delivered for an additional charge based on your location.  If you'd like your plants pre-selected and ready for you to pick up, call your order to 630-293-1040 x 2 or fax it to 630-293-1588.  Please give us 48 hours to get your order ready for you.

Reliable Performers

To help beginning gardeners be successful in their early plant choices, The Planter's Palette is proud to introduce Reliable Performers - a specially chosen group of perennials - to take the guesswork out of selecting dependable perennials.  Each plant on the Reliable Performers team has been carefully selected by The Planter's Palette staff according to the following rigorous standards:

1)  It must have been grown by a staff member for at least 3 years in their own garden (showing hardiness in northern Illinois gardens).

2)  It must return reliably year after year.

3)  It must be relatively resistant to disease.

4)  It must require a minimal amount of maintenance.

5)  It must be beautiful in flower or foliage.

Have fun with color! This year many of our new garden art and accessories are celebrating the joy of color. Color delights the eye and lifts the spirit. Some of our favorite new accents are created from hand blown glass infused with vibrant color that add a "Dale Chihuly†artistic feel to the garden. Also, multi colored glass beads are translucent jewels of color when incorporated in designs for wind chimes, sun catchers and ornamental garden stakes. They will provide cheerful motion in your garden. And we love our new colorful Talavera pottery! Made in Mexico, the planters, animal statuary, and wall fountains are hand painted with delightfully detailed designs and are sure to make you smile!

The choice of materials range from substantial concrete to versatile resin to glazed ceramics in a variety of color finishes. Also, you can get as creative as you like by using one of our bamboo spout and pump kits and a basin of your choice. It's an easy way to make your own simple, custom fountain.

At your entry or on your patio these impressive containers have the look of carved stone yet are lightweight enough to move on a whim! Available in two finishesâ€" stone beige or espresso brown. We have many design shapes and sizes, so one is sure to fit your particular style of home or garden setting. Make an appointment with Sandi, the gift shop designer, bring in a photo of your house, and she will help you choose the perfect planter!

The gift shop offers our shoppers a variety of items for the garden including tools, statuary, decorative pots, garden accessories, and much more.  The gift shop also carries gardening books and magazines for gardeners at every level.
