We are open!
Just a reminder – we are open on Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. I sure hope there is at least one day of this three-day weekend without rain!
Square Foot Gardening Classes are underway!
Ellen is once again sharing her passion for growing vegetables during her Square Foot Gardening classes every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. She’s already covered soil preparation, choosing and planting seeds, and planting cool-season vegetables. On Saturday, May 21 she will talk about growing vegetables in Earth Boxes, and on Saturday, May 28, she will show how to transplant vegetable plants, how to care for them, and which bugs and diseases to watch out for. Classes are free, but we would appreciate it if you would register at 630-293-1040 ext. 2.
Our Open House Continues!
Although the weather didn’t cooperate, we had record turnouts for all of our classes the first weekend of our Open House. Up next Saturday is a hypertufa trough workshop in the morning and a spring fairy garden workshop in the afternoon. For more information on these fun, hands-on classes, click on our Calendar.
If the weather starts getting you down this week, come and see all the beautiful blooms – it will reassure you that spring will come…it always does!
Shawna Coronado here on Saturday!
We are so excited to welcome Shawna Coronado, author of Gardening Nude, to The Planter’s Palette on Saturday, April 16 to share how she turned her entire front yard into an attractive and productive vegetable garden. She will speak from 2 to 3 p.m. The cost is just $10 and Shawna has generously offered to GIVE everyone who attends a copy of her book (an $18.95 value) for FREE. Register at 630-293-1040 ext. 2 so she will know how many books to bring. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet this unique and dynamic person!
