Mertensia virginica
Sapphire-blue bells open from pink buds April-May. Flower clusters dangle from arching stems 12-24" tall & wide. Self seeds, eventually forming colonies. Mixes well with trilliums, wild ginger, & ferns.
Plant in an open shady area in organically rich moist soil. Plants will die back by mid-summer. Soil can be dryer when plants are dormant.
