Matteuccia pensylvanica
Vase-shaped clusters of very upright, dark green, plume-like fronds 2-5' tall. Spreads by underground stems forming new plants 1-3' away. Brown, spore producing fronds in summer last into winter.
Light to medium shade in rich, moist soil. Can tolerate more sun if moisture is constant. Will also grow in wet areas.
