Silphium perfoliatum
Many yellow sunflower-like flowers top the 4-7' stems in late July to August. Spreads to 3' wide. Large triangular, opposite leaves surround square stems creating "cups" that holds rain water often used by birds.
Full sun in average to moisture retentive soil.
