Sorghastrum nutans
A native prairie plant growing 2-4' tall in upright clumps 2-3' wide. Turns yellow in fall. Dries to an attractive burnt orange. Tan-yellow feathery blooms on erect spikes rise 2-3' above the foliage in August. A warm season grass.
Full sun to light shade. Average, well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Readily re-seeds.
