Sporobolus heterolepis

Native prairie plant forming beautiful clumps of fine textured, emerald foliage turning orange-red in fall. Grows 1 1/2-2' tall and 2' wide. Airy, fragrant blooms are held 2-3' above foliage in August. A warm season grass.

Full sun in well-drained to dry soils. Extremely heat and drought tolerant. Does not seed invasively. A little slow to mature.
