Asarum canadense
Soft green, kidney-shaped leaves growing 6-12" tall. Curious purple-brown, pitcher-shaped flowers in April are concealed by the foliage. A pretty summer carpet of green with ferns and sweet woodruff. Space 12-15" apart.
Partial to dense shade. Average to moist well-drained soil. Tolerates difficult conditions. Water during summer drought. Rhizomes spread slowly.
